Jute Avenue began when a well-decorated Bangladeshi Military officer, Major General Humayun Khaled (retd.) started working for the Jute Industry of the Bangladesh Government, as the longest-running Chairman of BJMC (Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation). He quickly realized the future of Natural Fibre and why Jute is called the Golden Fibre of Bangladesh. He absolutely fell in love with it in no time. Seeing his passion every day even after work, his daughter, Zareen Khaled, began her career in this industry with him. All the love, passion and experience needed a name and a structure – Jute Avenue.
Jute Avenue is a conscious producer with some of the best artisans in Bangladesh. Together with a small but professional team, Jute Avenue is able to supply and export any volume of Jute goods. With a very strong understanding and liaison with the public and private sectors in Bangladesh, Humayun Khaled has earned his name and true recognition in the global market as a Bangladeshi who is passionate and knowledgeable about the uses and implementation of Jute.
As a Canadian-Bangladeshi currently living in Toronto, Zareen specializes in Marketing as well as Advertising and explores market opportunities for Jute.
